Intense desire earned this smiling Irishman a place on the Bruins roster. Terry had only one professional season under his belt before coming to the Bruins in 1971-72. Boston won the Stanley Cup in Terry’s first year with the club. A sparkplug forward, Terry works hard on his skating style during the off season. Hustling style is popular with fans.

Terry O’Reilly was a first round pick by the Boston Bruins at the 1971 NHL Amateur Draft, 14th overall. At the time, he was coming off a three year junior career with the Oshawa Generals. His only year of non-NHL pro hockey came in 1971-72 with the Boston Braves of the American Hockey League.

O’Reilly helped the Braves to a tie for first place overall in the AHL with the Nova Scotia Voyageurs. Boston was swept in the second round of the playoffs by the same Voyageurs. In between the pipes for the Braves was future NHL star Dan Bouchard.

Terry would go on to play 891 regular season and 108 playoff games in the National Hockey League between 1971-72 and 1984-85. His entire NHL career was spent with the Boston Bruins. He moved on to a coaching role with the club after retiring as a player. He led the team to the Stanley Cup final in 1987-88, losing out to the Edmonton Oilers.
