Bernie came out of the Boston Bruins farm system. Bernie has an extra quick glove hand and he’s quick on his feet. He broke into the NHL with Boston in 1965.
Bernie is an original member of the Flyers.

What the back of this 1973-74 O-Pee-Chee Bernie Parent card doesn’t note is that the stats on the back for 1972-73 are with the Philadelphia Blazers in the World Hockey Association. 1973-74 marked a return to the Flyers after the team traded Parent to the Toronto Maple Leafs during the 1970-71 NHL season. Bernie played just a single year in the WHA.
The Flyers put him to work in 1973-74. Parent played in 73 of the team’s 78 regular season games. He played in all 17 playoff games as the Broad Street Bullies captured their first Stanley Cup championship.
Bernie Parent is not only an original member of the Flyers, he was the first player the team selected at the 1967 NHL Expansion Draft. He was second overall in the draft with the Los Angeles Kings taking Terry Sawchuk first overall. Philadelphia made goaltending a priority, taking Doug Favell with their second pick.
