Reg Leach did lead the Philadelphia Flyers in goal scoring in 1974-75, his first year with the club. He edged out Rick MacLeish (38) and Bill Barber (34). The back of the card may contain a slight ERROR. Leach had 12 power play goals that year and not the 13 reported on the back of the card. This was the team lead, one ahead of MacLeish and two ahead of Bobby Clarke.
Leach came to the Flyers in the off-season prior to the 1974-75 campaign in a trade with the California Golden Seals that saw Al MacAdam and Larry Wright go the other way. Originally, Reg was the third overall pick by the Boston Bruins at the 1970 NHL Amateur Draft out of the Flin Flon Bombers.
In 1975-76, Reggie set the current franchise record for most goals in a season by a member of the Flyers, scoring 61. He became the second player from the team to reach the 50 goal plateau, following Rick MacLeish. Bill Barber also reached 50 in 1975-76. Leach also impressed in the playoffs, winning the Conn Smythe Trophy despite the Flyers losing to the Montreal Canadiens in the final.
Between 1970-71 and 1982-83, Reg Leach appeared in 934 regular season and 94 playoff games in the National Hockey League with the Boston Bruins, California Golden Seals, Philadelphia Flyers and Detroit Red Wings. Incredibly, Leach is not a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame.
