Al comes off the roster of the Stanley Cup champion Philadelphia Flyers, and the Seals moved quickly to acquire his services during the off-season. He can play both right or left wing, and caught the attention of scouts while playing for the University of Prince Edward Island. Two good years with the Richmond Robins of the American Hockey League earned Al his chance at NHL glory.

Al MacAdam did get to play five regular season games and a single Stanley Cup playoff game with the Flyers in 1973-74, enough to earn a championship ring. He came over the California Seals in a May 24, 1974 trade with Larry Wright, in exchange for Reg Leach. I would have to say that the Flyers won that trade.
MacAdam scored 18 goals in his rookie season with California and nearly doubled that for 1975-76 with 32. Al was a major part of the team’s 3M Line that also included Bob Murdoch and Dennis Maruk.
His greatest NHL season offensively came in 1979-80 with the Minnesota North Stars, scoring 42 goals and assisting on 51 for 93 points. The following year, he helped the team to the Stanley Cup final before losing out to the New York Islanders.
Al played 864 regular season games in the NHL between 1973-74 and 1984-85. Along with the Flyers, Golden Seals and North Stars, MacAdam also wore the jersey of the Cleveland Barons and Vancouver Canucks.
