Card Notes

There’s neve a dull moment when Eddie Shack is on the ice. He skitters around like a wild locomotive. He’s been “The People’s Choice” in New York, Boston, Toronto and now Los Angeles. Can play both wings.

Details

1969-70 would be the only full year Eddie Shack would spend with the Los Angeles Kings. However, he was able to put up his third of five 20+ goals seasons, scoring 22 in 73 games. He came to the Kings along with Ross Lonsberry in a May 14, 1969 trade with the Boston Bruins, in exchange for Ken Turlik and two first round draft picks.

Just eleven games into the 1970-71 NHL season, Eddie was traded out of L.A., heading to the Buffalo Sabres on November 25, 1970 with Dick Duff. That year, he scored two with the Kings and 25 with the Sabres for a career high 27.

In his fourth game with Los Angeles, the team’s first home game of the 1969-70 campaign, Shack wowed the home crowd. On October 18, 1969, the Kings hosted the Oakland Seals at the Forum. In a 5-0 Kings win, Eddie scored three goals, including the first of the match and game winner at 15:19 of the first period, scored on Gary Smith and assisted by Eddie Joyal and Larry Cahan.

Between 1958-59 and 1974-75, Eddie Shack played 1,047 regular season and 74 playoff games in the National Hockey League with the New York Rangers, Toronto Maple Leafs, Boston Bruins, Los Angeles Kings, Buffalo Sabres and Pittsburgh Penguins. He was a 20+ goal scorer with five different teams: 1965-66 scoring 26 for Toronto, 1967-68 scoring 23 with Boston, 1969-70 scoring 22 with Los Angeles, 1970-71 scoring 25 with the Sabres and 1972-73 scoring 25 with Pittsburgh.
