Details
After scoring just eleven goals with the Stanley Cup winning Toronto Maple Leafs in 1966-67 (zero in 8 playoff games), Eddie Shack came back strong with the Boston Bruins, scoring 23 in 1967-68. It was his second of five seasons topping the 20 goal plateau. Those five were done with five different teams.
On May 15, 1967, soon after hoisting his fourth and final Stanley Cup, Shack was traded from Toronto to Boston for Murray Oliver. He scored his first goal as a Bruin in his third game with the team. On October 18, 1967 in a 7-1 win over the Blackhawks at Chicago Stadium, Eddie scored Boston’s sixth goal of game on Chicago goalie Denis DeJordy, assisted by Skip Krake.
Shack also recorded his first hat trick since the 1962-63 NHL season and his second of seven over his career. In a 9-3 win over the St. Louis Blues on March 3, 1968 at Boston Garden, Eddie scored his 16th, 17th and 18th of the campaign, all assisted by Phil Esposito.
Between 1958-59 and 1974-75, Eddie Shack played 1,047 regular season and 74 playoff games in the National Hockey League with the New York Rangers, Toronto Maple Leafs, Boston Bruins, Los Angeles Kings, Buffalo Sabres and Pittsburgh Penguins.
