The Details
Stan Mikita did win the Art Ross Trophy four times. He took home the scoring leader hardware in 1963-64, 1964-65, 1966-67 and 1967-68. He was a ‘Triple Crown’ winner in 1966-67 and 1967-68, also awarded the Lady Byng Trophy and Hart Memorial Trophy in both those seasons.
In 1972-73, Mikita had 83 points on 27 goals and 56 assists over just 57 games. This put him on pace for a 110 point season. This total would not have earned him another Art Ross Trophy. However, it would have placed him a solid second behind NHL leader Phil Esposito of the Boston Bruins. Espo finished with 130 points.
