Card Notes
A hard-hitting defenseman, Pat played most of last two seasons with Maple Leafs. Pat is at his best when the opposition attempts to rough it up a bit and will give the Canucks a defenseman that will keep opposing forwards on their toes.
Details
Pat Quinn was the eighth overall pick at the 1970 NHL Expansion Draft, taken from the Toronto Maple Leafs by the Vancouver Canucks. Quinn had split the two previous season between the Leafs and the Tulsa Oilers, their CHL affiliate.
Instantly a regular with the expansion Canucks, Pat missed just two games in 1970-71. His 149 penalty minutes was three behind team leader Rosaire Paiement. On a team that allowed 67 more goals than it scored, Quinn had a very good +1.
Never the offensive threat, Quinn did become the first in Vancouver Canucks franchise history to record a Gordie Howe Hat Trick. On November 4, 1970 in an 8-3 loss to the Penguins at the Pittsburgh Civic Arena, Pat scored his first of the season and assisted on a Ray Cullen goal before going toe-to-toe with Ron Schock. Glen Sather of the Penguins also put up a GHHT in the game.
Between 1968-69 and 1976-77, Pat Quinn played 606 regular season and eleven playoff games in the National Hockey League with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Vancouver Canucks and Atlanta Flames. Though the Stanley Cup eluded him, Quinn won a WHL championship with the Seattle Totems in 1966-67 and a CHL title with the Tulsa Oilers in 1967-68.
