Details

After helped the Oklahoma City Blazers to consecutive CPHL championships, Glen Sather was up in the NHL for good with the Boston Bruins in 1967-68. However, his time in Boston wouldn’t last long. He was off to the Pittsburgh Penguins to start 1969-70 and missed out on a pair of Stanley Cup championships in Bean Town.

Sather’s first NHL goal was scored in his second game of the 1967-68 NHL season. On October 15, 1967, the Bruins hosted the Montreal Canadiens at Boston Garden. Glen scored the final goal of the game on Montreal goalie Rogie Vachon at 17:03 of the third, assisted by John McKenzie and Fred Stanfield. The home team won the game 6-2, propelled by Phil Esposito‘s four goals.

Between 1966-67 and 1975-76, Glen Sather played 658 regular season and 72 playoff games in the National Hockey League with the Boston Bruins, Pittsburgh Penguins, New York Rangers, St. Louis Blues, Montreal Canadiens and Minnesota North Stars. He also played 81 games in the WHA with the Edmonton Oilers in 1976-77. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame as a Builder in 1997.
