Details
Jean Pronovost led the Pittsburgh Penguins with 43 goals in 1974-75. However, that was just a warmup for his 1975-76 production. Pronovost scored 52 goals and assisted on 52 for 104 points. Great numbers, yes, but he was a single goal behind team leader Pierre Larouche who scored 53.
Larouche finished third in the NHL for goal scoring in 1975-76 while Pronovost placed fourth. Leading the way was Reggie Leach of the Philadelphia Flyers with 61, followed by Guy Lafleur of the Montreal Canadiens with 56. Jean’s 104 points placed him eighth in the race for the Art Ross Trophy.
Pronovost topped the 20 goal plateau in 12 consecutive seasons. On four occasions, he topped the 40 goal mark. Between 1968-69 and 1981-82, Jean played in 998 regular season and 35 playoff games in the National Hockey League with the Penguins, Atlanta Flames and Washington Capitals.
Jean actually had three brothers play in the NHL: Andre, Claude and Marcel.
