Card Notes

The “Pocket Rocket” was overshadowed at first by his famous brother, Maurice “Rocket” Richard. But Henri didn’t waste any time proving to all hockey fans that he was a star in his own right. One of the fastest skaters in the NHL, Henri has twice led the league in assists.

Details

Even though he still had eight seasons left in his storied National Hockey League career, 1966-67 would be the last time Henri Richard would reach the 20 goal plateau. This does not in anyway diminish the Pocket Rocket’s importance to the success of the Montreal Canadiens.

Over his Hockey Hall of Fame NHL career, Henri helped the Habs to eleven Stanley Cup championships. No other player in the history of the league has been involved in as many Cup wins.

Henri simply had a different style of play than his older brother. The younger Richard was one of the best playmakers in the league. He led the NHL in assists in 1957-58 (52) and 1962-63 (50).

Richard played 1,258 regular season and 180 playoff games in the National Hockey League between 1955-56 and 1974-75, all with the Montreal Canadiens. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1979.
