Bobby is fast becoming the favourite of Montreal hockey fans. Averaging over 20 goals per season since coming to Montreal, last year scoring 30 goals and leading the league with 48 assists. Despite his size, Bobby has one of the hardest slap-shots in the league.

Bobby Rousseau was the Calder Trophy winner in 1961-62 with an outstanding rookie campaign with the Montreal Canadiens. That year, he scored 21 and assisted on 24 for 45 points while playing the full 70 game schedule. In the voting for the Calder, Rousseau received more than double the votes as second place Cliff Pennington from the Boston Bruins.
On February 1, 1964, Rousseau made some history with a five goal game against the Detroit Red Wings at the Montreal Forum. He is one of just 47 different players to score five or more goals in an NHL game. All five were scored on Detroit goalie Roger Crozier in a 9-3 Montreal win. Henri Richard had a five assist night, four on Rousseau goals.
Bobby’s 48 assists actually tied him for the NHL lead in 1966-67 with Jean Beliveau and Stan Mikita. His 30 goals placed him tied for fifth with Mikita, 24 behind leader Bobby Hull. The 78 point total tied him with Mikita in the race for the Art Ross Trophy, 19 points behind the leader Hull. Despite the numbers, Rousseau didn’t even get a look for the Hart Trophy. He did, however, finish second behind Alex Delvecchio for the Lady Byng.
Between 1960-61 and 1974-75, Bobby Rousseau appeared in 942 regular season and 128 playoff games in the National Hockey League with the Canadiens, Minnesota North Stars and New York Rangers. He was a four time Stanley Cup champion with the Habs and went to the final with the New York Rangers in 1971-72.
