Details

Earl Ingarfield Sr. played four years of minor pro hockey in the WHL before getting his break with the New York Rangers. The performance that got him noticed by the NHL club came during the 1957-58 season.

Playing for the Winnipeg Warriors, Earl scored 39 goals and assisted on 41 for 80 points over 64 regular season games. He led his team in goals and points. His 39 goals tied him for fourth in the league with Len Lunde of the Edmonton Flyers. Ingarfield placed sixth in overall scoring.

In 1959-60, he started the season with the Rangers but found himself in the American Hockey League, finishing the year with the Cleveland Barons. He played just 40 games with the Barons but was second on the team with 65 points. The Barons were ousted in the opening round of the Calder Cup playoffs by the Rochester Americans. Earl led the way in the losing cause with nine points over seven games.

His career year in the National Hockey League came in 1961-62 when he scored 26 goals for the Blue Shirts. That total put him in a four-way tie for eighth in the NHL, equaling Alex Delvecchio, Norm Ullman and Dave Keon.

In all, Earl Ingarfield played 746 regular season and 21 Stanley Cup playoff games in the NHL between 1958-59 and 1970-71. Much of his career was spent with the Rangers but he also appeared with the Pittsburgh Penguins and Oakland Seals.
