Enjoyed his third fine campaign with the Canadiens in 1976-77 as he topped his previous highs in goals and assists for season. Played amateur hockey at Guelph in 1971-72 and 1972-73, had 47 goals and 60 assists for 107 points during 1972-73 season.

In those two amateur years referred to on the back of this 1977-78 O-Pee-Chee hockey card, Doug Risebrough played Junior B for the Guelph CMC’s and Biltmore Mad Hatters. In 1973-74, he played his only year of major junior with the Kitchener Rangers. The Montreal Canadiens selected Risebrough seventh overall at the 1974 NHL Amateur Draft. After a short stint in the AHL in 1974-75, he was up with the NHL club for good.

The 60 points Doug totaled in 1976-77 turned out to be a career high. He would put up his best goal total, 23, with the Calgary Flames in 1983-84. He recorded his first of four career hat tricks on March 27, 1977 in a 6-0 win over the Detroit Red Wings.

All three of those hat trick goals were scored in the second period, his 19th, 20th and 21st of the 1976-77 NHL season. His first held as the game winner and Risebrough led all skaters with eight shots on net. The game featured Steve Shutt‘s 56th of the campaign and a 17 save shutout by Michel Larocque.

Between 1974-75 and 1986-87, Doug Risebrough played 740 regular season and 124 playoff games in the National Hockey League with the Montreal Canadiens and Calgary Flames. He went on to a stint as head coach with the Flames after retiring. The four-time Stanley Cup champion reached the 20 goal plateau three times during his NHL career.
