Details

The 119 points Bobby Clarke put up for the Philadelphia Flyers in 1975-76 was a team record at the time and remains today the second most in franchise history behind Mark Recchi’s 123 in 1992-93. Clarke finished second in the race for the Art Ross Trophy that year, since points behind leader Guy Lafleur of the Montreal Canadiens.

Bobby was the first Flyer to reach the 100 point plateau, recording 104 in 1972-73. Rick MacLeish also had exactly 100 that year. In all, he reached the milestone three times during his career. Clarke’s 89 assists in both 1974-75 and 1975-76 by far remain a Philadelphia record today.

The numbers dropped for 1976-77 with Clarke scoring 27 and assisting on 63 for 90 points. The assist total was still good for sixth in the NHL and he finished in a three-way tie for eighth in overall scoring with Darryl Sittler and Lanny McDonald, both from the Toronto Maple Leafs.

On his way to 89 assists in 1975-76, Bobby had a five helper game against the Washington Capitals and four in a game against the Minnesota North Stars. In the Washington game, an 11-2 blowout, he assisted on all three Bill Barber hat trick goals. In the 9-5 win over the North Stars in the second game of the year, Clarke also added a goal for a five point game.

Between 1969-70 and 1983-84, Bobby Clarke played 1,144 regular season and 136 playoff games in the National Hockey League, all with the Philadelphia Flyers. The three-time winner of the Hart Trophy was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1987.
