Details

The Philadelphia Flyers traded Andre Lacroix to the Chicago Blackhawks on October 15, 1971 in exchange for Rick Foley. After three years of scoring 20 or more goals for the Flyers, his 1971-72 season with Chicago made it easy to jump to the World Hockey Association. He appeared in just 51 regular season games for the Hawks, scoring just four goals and assisting on seven.

The WHA was a major game-changer for Andre. He played in the Rebel League for it’s entirety from 1972-73 to 1978-79. He led the league in scoring twice, 1972-73 and 1974-75, earning the Bill Hunter Trophy.

Lacroix’s 798 career points are the most by any WHA player, 132 points more than the next competitor, Marc Tardif. He topped out with 147 points for the Mariners in 1974-75. He was a 50 goal scorer just once, in 1972-73 with the Philadelphia Blazers.

In all, Andre played 551 regular season and 48 playoff games in the World Hockey Association. He appeared with the Philadelphia Blazers, New York Golden Blades (Jersey Knights), San Diego Mariners, Houston Aeros and New England Whalers. He also appeared in 325 regular season and 16 Stanley Cup playoff games in the NHL with the Flyers, Blackhawks and Hartford Whalers.
