Details
A member of the WHA Hall of Fame, Ron Plumb played in the league during its entirety from 1972-73 to 1978-79. Along with the Cincinnati Stingers, Plumb also appeared with the Philadelphia Blazers, Vancouver Blazers, San Diego Mariners and New England Whalers. His 549 WHA games are just two shy of the record 551 played by Andre Lacroix.
At the 1970 NHL Amateur Draft, Ron was drafted ninth overall by the Bruins. His only NHL action came in 1979-80 when he played 26 games for the Hartford Whalers.
An outstanding defenseman, Ron was awarded with the Max Kaminsky Trophy as the OHL’s top blue liner in 1969-70 while playing his final year of junior hockey with the Peterborough Petes. Surprisingly not noted on the back of this hockey card, Plumb was the 1976-77 recipient of the Dennis A. Murphy Trophy as the WHA’s best defenseman.
