Details
The AHL record for most consecutive games with a goal now belongs to Alexandre Giroux with his 15 in a row with the Hershey Bears in 2008-09. Giroux broke Brett Hull’s record of 14, set in 1986-87 with the Moncton Golden Flames.
In 1975-76, Yvon Lambert would equal his career best 32 goals, also achieved in the previous campaign. In fact, his numbers were identical between the two seasons with 35 assists and 67 points in each.
Originally a third round pick by the Detroit Red Wings at the 1970 NHL Amateur Draft after playing major junior for his hometown Drummondville Rangers, the four time Stanley Cup champion learned how to win early in his pro career. Relegated to the Port Huron Flags, Detroit’s IHL affiliate, Yvon helped the team to the Turner Cup championship in 1970-71 as a rookie. The following year, he was part of a Calder Cup title with the Nova Scotia Voyageurs in the AHL.
Between 1972-73 and 1981-82, Yvon Lambert played 683 regular season and 90 playoff games in the National Hockey League with the Montreal Canadiens and Buffalo Sabres. With Buffalo, he played 77 games, all in 1981-82. That year, he put up his only NHL hat trick scoring three on former teammate Michel Larocque in an 8-2 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs.
