Tony played more games than any NHL goalie in 1975-76. Former winner of the Calder Trophy and Vezina Trophy. Tony set an NHL record with 15 shutouts in 1969-70.

Tony Esposito led all NHL goalies in 1975-76 with 68 games played, a two game edge over runner-up Wayne Stephenson of the Philadelphia Flyers. Tony-O would lead the league four times, including the following season. Interestingly, when he played his career high 71 games in 1974-75, it was not the league lead.
Esposito won the Calder Trophy as NHL rookie of the year in 1969-70 after his amazing 15 shutout season with the Blackhawks. That year was also the first of three times Tony won the Vezina Trophy, all prior to this 1976-77 O-Pee-Chee hockey card coming out.
Of his 68 games in 1975-76, four were shutouts. The most impressive was a 35 save performance at Chicago Stadium on January 18, 1976 against the Philadelphia Flyers. In the 2-0 win for the home team, John Marks and J.P. Bordeleau scored for Chicago, both assisted by Dale Tallon. Wayne Stephenson faced 32 shots in the loss.
Between 1968-69 and 1983-84, Tony Esposito played 886 regular season and 99 playoff games in the National Hockey League with the Montreal Canadiens and Chicago Blackhawks. His 76 career regular season shutouts tie him for tenth all-time with Ed Belfour and Marc-Andre Fleury. Tony was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1988 and his number 35 has been retired by the Blackhawks.
