Details

The 82 points that Tom Lysiak produced in 1975-76 would remain as a career, although he would tie the total with the Chicago Blackhawks in 1981-82. It was first of three times scoring at least 30 goals and the second of nine consecutive seasons surpassing the 20 goal plateau.

Five of those 82 points came in a March 9, 1976 9-0 blowout over the Boston Bruins at the Omni in Atlanta. Lysiak scored his 29th of the season and assisted on two goals by Randy Manery, along with singles by Hilliard Graves and Dave Kryskow. Gilles Gilbert took the brunt for the Bruins, allowing the nine on 40 shots. Dan Bouchard made 25 saves for the shutout.

1976-77 would see nearly a repeat in numbers for Tom. He totaled 81 points on 30 goals and 51 assists, again leading the team with a ten point edge over Eric Vail. He had a pair of four point games, one against the Pittsburgh Penguins and the other against the Chicago Blackhawks, both wins for Atlanta.

Between 1973-74 and 1985-86, Tom Lysiak played 919 regular season and 76 playoff games in the National Hockey League with the Atlanta Flames and Chicago Blackhawks. At the 1973 NHL Amateur Draft, Lysiak was the second overall pick behind just Denis Potvin.
