Details

As with Ted Lindsay, Tod Sloan was shipped to the Chicago Blackhawks due to his activity in trying to start a players association. Seemingly out of spite, Sloan doubled his goal production in 1958-59 (Chicago) over 1957-58 (Toronto) with 27. He finished tied for ninth in the NHL for goal scoring with Vic Stasiuk. His 62 points placed him in a three way tie for eighth in the race for the Art Ross Trophy with Don McKenney and Andy Hebenton.

1955-56 would remain a career year for Sloan. His 37 goals were good for fourth in the NHL, ten behind leader Jean Beliveau and just a goal behind both Gordie Howe and Maurice Richard. His 66 points tied him for fifth with Andy Bathgate.

Tod helped the Toronto Maple Leafs to two Stanley Cup championships and was part of the Chicago Blackhawks 1960-61 title, his final year in the NHL. He was a Second Team All-Star in 1955-56 and finished a very close second behind Jean Beliveau that year in voting for the Hart Trophy.

Between 1947-48 and 1960-61, Sloan played in 745 regular season and 47 playoff games in the National Hockey League with the Maple Leafs and Blackhawks.
