Details

The haunting final hockey card for Tim Horton, he would pass away during the 1973-74 NHL season after a car accident. In 1973-74, he played in 55 games for the Sabres, getting just six assists while not putting a puck to the back of the net. It was the first time since 1955-56 that Tim didn’t score at least a goal.

The Sabres claimed Horton in the Intraleague draft, prior to the 1972-73 season. He spent the previous campaign with the Pittsburgh Penguins but appeared in just 44 games with the club. Buffalo was his fourth and final team, playing most of his career with the Toronto Maple Leafs and also appearing with the New York Rangers.

Between 1949-50 and 1973-74, Tim Horton played in 1,445 regular season and 126 playoff games in the National Hockey League. He was part of four Stanley Cup championship teams in Toronto and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1977.
