Details

1968-69 would be a career year offensively for Tim Horton, at the ripe age of 39. He scored eleven goals and assisted on 29 for 40 points. His point total would prove to be a career best. His eleven goals were one short of his 1964-65 production of 12 and his 29 assists equaled what he produced in 1959-60.

That season would be the last of three times that Horton was selected as a First Team All-Star. Joining him on the blue line was Bobby Orr of the Boston Bruins. Horton was also a Second Team All-Star on three occasions. Despite this, and helping the Toronto Maple Leafs to four Stanley Cup championships, Tim Horton was never the recipient of the Norris Trophy as the NHL’s best defenseman.

Tim Horton played 1,445 regular season and 126 playoff games in the National Hockey League between 1949-50 and 1973-74 with the Maple Leafs, New York Rangers, Pittsburgh Penguins and Buffalo Sabres. His number 2 was retired by the Sabres in 1996 and his number 7 was retired by the Maple Leafs in 2016. Tim was inducted posthumously into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1977.
