Card Notes

Another of the lengthening list of sons of famous hockey players, Pierre shows signs of being as rugged as his father, Butch Bouchard, former Canadiens’ star and captain. In his second season with Canadiens and has already gained a regular berth with the club.

Details

The father of Pierre Bouchard, Emile ‘Butch’ Bouchard, played his entire National Hockey League career with the Montreal Canadiens from 1941-42 to 1955-56. The four time Stanley Cup champion was the first Quebec born player to serve as team captain for the Habs. Butch Bouchard was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1966.

Pierre Bouchard played in the NHL from 1970-71 to 1981-82. His career, however, was not played entirely with the Canadiens. The Washington Capitals claimed him off waivers for the 1978-79 season. A disgruntled Bouchard played just a single game with the Caps that season. He did come to terms with the club and finished out his NHL career with the team.

On the front of this 1971-72 O-Pee-Chee hockey card, Bouchard is not wearing his number 26 jersey. Instead, he is sporting the number 10 of Guy Lafleur. Several Habs that year were photographed in that jersey.
