Card Notes
Pete is getting his second chance to “make it” in the NHL. Has spent part of last two seasons between Rochester of AHL and the Leafs. A husky forward who is highly rated by the Leaf management as one of their up and coming younger players.
Details
Even though he played an important role in the 1966-67 Toronto Maple Leafs Stanley Cup championship, Pete Stemkowski would play just part of one more year with the club before being traded to the Detroit Red Wings. On March 3, 1968, Pete was traded to Motown, along with Carl Brewer, Frank Mahovlich and Garry Unger for Doug Barrie, Paul Henderson, Floyd Smith and Norm Ullman.
Stemkowski played 967 regular season and 83 playoff games in the National Hockey League between 1963-64 and 1977-78 with the Maple Leafs, Red Wings, New York Rangers and Los Angeles Kings.
