Details

There is an ERROR on the back of this 1965-66 Topps Paul Henderson hockey card. The trivia question with the scratch off answer is wrong. The question is: Paul was AHL’s top goal getter with what club? The answer shown is: Hamilton Red Wings.

Henderson played just 38 games in the AHL during his pro hockey career, all with the Pittsburgh Hornets in 1963-64 and with ten goals he certainly didn’t lead the league in goal scoring. He did lead the OHA Junior A in 1962-63, scoring 49 goals for the Hamilton Red Wings.

1965-66 would see Henderson more than double his production with Detroit. He scored 22 goals, up from eight the previous season, and contributed 46 points, up from 21. It would be his best season with the Red Wings. Paul’s numbers would increase after a March 3, 1968 trade sent him to the Toronto Maple Leafs with Doug Barrie, Floyd Smith and Norm Ullman for Carl Brewer, Frank Mahovlich, Pete Stemkowski and Garry Unger. He topped out with 38 goals for the Leafs in 1971-72.

Between 1962-63 and 1979-80, Paul Henderson appeared in 707 regular season and 56 playoff games in the National Hockey League with the Red Wings, Maple Leafs and Atlanta Flames. From 1974-75 to 1978-79, he played in the WHA with the Toronto Toros and Birmingham Bulls.
