Details

Along with the three all-star selections mentioned on the back of the card, Marcel Pronovost would also be named a First Team All-Star in 1961-62 as a member of the Detroit Red Wings.

A player starting his eleventh season in 1960-61 would be considered to be on the downward slope of his career. However, for Pronovost, it was barely the halfway point. He continued to play in the NHL until the 1969-70 season, appearing in 1,206 regular season and 134 playoff games.

A trade sent him to the Toronto Maple Leafs on May 20, 1965. Going with Marcel were Larry Jeffrey, Eddie Joyal, Lowell MacDonald and Autry Erickson. Heading the other way to Detroit were Andy Bathgate, Gary Jarrett and Billy Harris. Pronovost would finish his National Hockey League playing career with the Maple Leafs.

Marcel won four Stanley Cup championships with Detroit and one with Toronto. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1978.
