Details

The trivia question at the bottom of this 1965-66 Topps hockey asks in what category Jim Pappin led the Rochester Americans during the 1964-65 Calder Cup playoffs. Pappin led the Amerks with eleven goals in ten games. His 16 points were one less than team leader Billy Harris. With help from Gerry Cheevers between the pipes, Rochester captured the championship, taking out the Hershey Bears in the final.

Despite leading the Maple Leafs in scoring during the Stanley Cup championship run in 1966-67, Pappin never caught on with the Buds and was traded to the Chicago Blackhawks after the 1967-68 season. For that campaign, he was mostly relegated to the AHL again and helped the Americans to another Calder Cup win.

Between 1963-64 and 1976-77, Pappin played in 767 regular season and 92 playoff games in the National Hockey League. Along with the Maple Leafs and Blackhawks, Jim also played for the California Seals and Cleveland Barons.
