Card Notes
One of the top skaters in the National Hockey League, Fred Stanfield was up and down with the Chicago Black Hawks, but strictly “up” with the Boston Bruins, scoring 64 big points last season. He’s an avid golfer and had fine junior record.
Details
Stanfield played 110 games with the Blackhawks over three seasons between 1964-65 and 1966-67, splitting time with the St. Louis Braves of the CPHL. Being part of the trade that also sent Phil Esposito and Ken Hodge to Boston jump-started his NHL career.
Fred would help the Bruins win two Stanley Cup championships before moving on to the Minnesota North Stars and Buffalo Sabres. Over 914 regular season NHL games, he scored 211 goals and totaled 616 points. He played in an impressive 106 playoff games.
His ‘fine’ junior career was with the St. Catharines Blackhawks from 1961-62 to 1963-64. In his final season, he put up 109 points in 56 games. That placed him third in the league behind Andre Boudrias and Yvan Cournoyer, both from the Montreal Junior Canadiens. His 75 assists were good for second behind Boudrias.
