Details
Ed Westfall played his final year of junior hockey in 1960-61 with the Niagara Falls Flyers. He moved with the franchise from Barrie, Ontario where they were previously the Barrie Flyers. Westfall, in total played four years with the club. That version of the Niagara Falls Flyers became the current day Sudbury Wolves.
1963-64 still saw Ed spend time in the minors. He played 55 games with the Bruins but also appeared in the AHL with the Providence Reds. However, by 1964-65, Westfall was full-time in the National Hockey League and never looked back.
Westfall played 1,226 regular season and 95 playoff games in the NHL between 1961-62 and 1978-79 with the Bruins and New York Islanders. He helped the Bruins win two Stanley Cup championships but retired just prior to being involved with New York’s string of four consecutive Cup wins.
