Details
Dennis Hull kept the ball rolling in 1972-73, putting up career high numbers with 90 points on 39 goals and 51 assists. He recorded his first of two NHL hat tricks against Cesare Maniago and the Minnesota North Stars in a road game on November 4, 1972.
In that game, Dennis scored goal numbers 6, 7 and 8 on the 1972-73 NHL season while accounting for six of Chicago’s 25 shots on net. Unfortunately for the Blackhawks, Hull’s three were the only goals for the team in a 5-3 loss. Jim Pappin assisted on all three while Dennis Hextall and Bill Goldsworthy had two each for the North Stars.
Hull’s success continued into the post season, leading the team with 24 points in 16 games. In the semi-final game 5 series clincher against the New York Rangers, Dennis had four points on a goal and three assists. His goal was the game and series winner. Despite losing in the final to the Montreal Canadiens in six, Hull contributed seven points on three goals and four assists.
Between 1964-65 and 1977-78, Dennis Hull played 959 regular season and 104 playoff games in the National Hockey League with the Chicago Blackhawks and Detroit Red Wings. He reached the 20 goal plateau in seven seasons and finished up his career with 303.
