One of Hawks’ several American college graduates, Cliff reached a career high of 22 goals in 1971-72 season and appeared headed for an even better season at the start of 1972-73 with the Hawks. Although a Canadian native, Cliff graduated from University of Denver.

Cliff Koroll did indeed have an even better season in 1972-73. In fact, his 33 goals would be a career high. He would achieve his career high in points a few years later with 59 in 1974-75 with the Chicago Blackhawks.
During his second year in the NHL, 1970-71, Koroll tied a modern day NHL record on December 16, 1970 in a game against the St. Louis Blues at the Chicago Stadium. In the second period, he assisted on four goals, two by Stan Mikita, one by Pit Martin and one by Dennis Hull. At the time, he tied the record for most assists in a period. That mark now stands at 5 by Dale Hawerchuk and Kris Letang.
Chicago won the game 8-3 with Ernie Wakely taking on 42 shots in the loss for the Blues. Stan Mikita had a pretty good night of his own with four goals and an assist for a five point game. Jim Lorentz was the best performer on the losing team, in on all three goals with two goals and an assist.
Between 1969-70 and 1979-80, Cliff Koroll played 814 regular season and 85 playoff games in the National Hockey League, all with the Chicago Blackhawks. He went to the Stanley Cup final twice with the Hawks, losing to the Montreal Canadiens both times.
