Details

After playing 55 games for the Chicago Blackhawks in 1964-65, Dennis Hull appeared in just 25 with the club in 1965-66. He spent much of the season in the CPHL with the St. Louis Braves. However, by 1966-67, he was a 25 goal scorer with the Hawks.

Dennis came to Chicago via their sponsored junior team in St. Catharines. With the junior Black Hawks, Hull had an impressive final campaign with the club, scoring 48 goals and totaling 97 points in 1963-64. He was third in the league in goal scoring behind just Yvan Cournoyer and Ron Buchanan. In overall scoring, he was sixth, 38 points behind leader Andre Boudrias.

Not quite the goal scorer that brother Bobby Hull was, Dennis certainly could find the back of the net. He finished his NHL career with 303 regular season goals, surpassing 20 goals seven times. His career best came in 1970-71 when he scored 40 for Chicago. That number was good for fifth in the NHL, 36 behind leader Phil Esposito.

Between 1964-65 and 1977-78, Dennis Hull appeared in 959 regular season and 104 playoff games in the National Hockey League with the Chicago Blackhawks and Detroit Red Wings. He joined the Wings for his final season, playing 55 regular season and seven post season games in Motown before retiring.
