Dale Hunter outlasted his brothers with more NHL regular season games than both Dave and Mark combined. Older brother Dave Hunter played 746 regular season and 105 playoff games in the NHL between 1979-80 and 1988-89 with the Edmonton Oilers, Pittsburgh Penguins and Winnipeg Jets. Mark Hunter played 628 regular season and 79 playoff games between 1981-82 and 1992-93 with the Montreal Canadiens, St. Louis Blues, Calgary Flames, Hartford Whalers and Washington Capitals.

It’s Dave that holds the most Stanley Cup championships with three, all with the Oilers. Mark won one with the Calgary Flames. Dale played 19 seasons in the NHL without winning a single title. Mark and Dale played together for a short time with Washington in 1992-93 with Mark appearing in just seven games with the Capitals.
He may have often been the penalty minutes leader for the Nordiques but Dale could also provide offense. In 1983-84, he had a career best 79 points (equaled again in 1992-93 with the Capitals). He had four 4-point games, including an opening night hat trick and assist against the New York Islanders.
On January 3, 1984 at Le Colisée in a 9-5 win over the Montreal Canadiens, all facets of Hunter’s game were evident. He scored a goal and assisted on two for a three point game while also engaging in a third period fight Dave Allison for the Gordie Howe Hat Trick. Dale and Michel Goulet assisting the game winning goal by Pat Price.
Between 1980-81 and 1998-99, Dale Hunter played 1,407 regular season and 186 playoff games in the National Hockey League with the Quebec Nordiques, Washington Capitals and Colorado Avalanche. Originally a second round pick by the Nordiques at the 1979 NHL Entry Draft, Hunter scored at least 20 goals in nine seasons, topping out with 28 in 1985-86 with Quebec and 1991-92 with the Capitals.
