Details

Dale Hawerchuk led the Winnipeg Jets in scoring each of the nine seasons he was with the club. He then led the Buffalo Sabres for the first two years he was with that team following June 16, 1990 trade for Scott Arniel, Phil Housley and Jeff Parker.

The assist record that Hawerchuk broke was his own. His 65 assists in 1983-84 topped the 58 he put up in his 1981-82 rookie season. Dale would add 12 to the record in 1984-85 with 77. His career best came in 1992-93 with 80 as a member of the Buffalo Sabres.

His 100th career goal in the NHL was scored on December 23, 1983 at the Winnipeg Arena against the St. Louis Blues. Just 34 seconds into the game, he put his 15th of the season past St. Louis goalie Mike Liut, assisted by Scott Arniel and Wade Campbell. Hawerchuk also assisted on a Lucien Deblois goal in the 6-3 win for the Jets.

Between 1981-82 and 1996-97, Dale Hawerchuk played 1,188 regular season and 97 playoff games in the National Hockey League with the Winnipeg Jets, Buffalo Sabres, St. Louis Blues and Philadelphia Flyers. The Calder Trophy winner as NHL rookie of the year in 1981-82 went on to score 518 goals over his career. Dale was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2001.
