Details

Not to be mistaken for the Don Murdoch that played in the NHL at the same time. The other by the same name played in the league from 1970-71 to 1981-82 with the Montreal Canadiens, Los Angeles Kings and Atlanta/Calgary Flames.

The 3M Line for the Cleveland Barons consisted of Murdoch, Wayne Merrick and Dennis Maruk. The three started playing together in 1975-76 with the California Seals while both Maruk and Murdoch were rookies and Merrick was a recent acquisition from the St. Louis Blues. That first year turned out to be Bob’s best with 22 goals and 49 points.

Murdoch’s National Hockey League career was short and sweet. He played in 260 regular season games between 1975-76 and 1978-79 with the Seals, Barons and St. Louis Blues. He did not play in the NHL post season.

Younger brother Don Murdoch played 320 regular season and 24 Stanley Cup playoff games in the NHL between 1976-77 and 1981-82 with the New York Rangers, Edmonton Oilers and Detroit Red Wings.
