Details

On of those four game winning goals in 1983-84 came in a December 10, 1983 2-0 shutout win over the Montreal Canadiens at the Capital Centre. Despite the Capitals getting just 14 shots on Montreal goalie Rick Wamsley, Bob Gould scored his seventh of the season at 2:10 of the second. Mike Gartner set up Doug Jarvis for the other Washington goal while Al Jensen turned away all 29 shots for the shutout.

Just a few weeks before, on November 26 at the Montreal Forum, Gould had three points on two goals and an assist in a 5-2 win over the Habs. Again the victim was Wamsley. This time, it was Bobby Carpenter scoring the game winner for the Caps.

To start his NHL career, Bobby played a total of 20 games over three years with the Atlanta / Calgary Flames. In those 20 games, Gould recorded his lone NHL hat trick. On October 10, 1981 in a 6-4 win over the St. Louis Blues at the Checkerdome, Bob scored his 1st, 2nd and 3rd goals of the young 1981-82 NHL season on St. Louis goalie Mike Liut. The hat trick goal served as the game winner.

Between 1979-80 and 1989-90, Bob Gould played 697 regular season and 78 playoff games in the National Hockey League with the Atlanta Flames, Calgary Flames, Washington Capitals and Boston Bruins. He twice finished third in voting for the Selke Trophy, 1982-83 and 1986-87.
