Bill’s only American college graduate in NHL. Always one of the league’s top assist-makers, he says he’d rather set up goals than put one in himself.

Bill Hay played for Colorado College from 1955-56 to 1957-58. He was an All-Star and All-American in his final two years in the NCAA.
In 1961-62, the playmaker tied for second in the National Hockey League with teammate Stan Mikita, both with 52 assists. The duo finished four assist behind league leader Andy Bathgate of the New York Rangers. The year prior, 1960-61, he was fourth in the NHL with 48 assists, ten behind leader Jean Beliveau of the Montreal Canadiens.
The Calder Trophy winner in 1959-60 as NHL rookie of the year would play a relatively low 506 regular season and 67 playoff games in the league between 1959-60 and 1966-67, all with the Chicago Blackhawks. He helped the Hawks to a Stanley Cup championship in 1960-61.
Bill Hay was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2015 in the Builder Category.
