Wayne is what the hockey scouts call a “digger”, a real tough man in the corners. He, Phil Esposito and Ken Hodge formed highest-scoring line in NHL history in 1969-70. “Cash” is one of the most popular Boston players because of his hard-hitting style.

This is a bit of an ERROR on the part of O-Pee-Chee. On the back of this 1972-73 Wayne Cashman card, it states that him, Phil Esposito and Ken Hodge combined to form the highest scoring line in NHL history in 1969-70. However, they should have said 1970-71.
In 1969-70, Cashman had just nine goals and 35 points while Hodge scored 25 and totaled 54 points. Espo led the way among the three but with just 43 goals and 99 points. This combined for 77 goals and 188 total points.
In 1970-71, Wayne upped his numbers considerably to 21 goals and 79 points. Hodge did as well with 43 goals and 105 points. Phil Esposito set what were at the time NHL records with 76 goals and 152 points. This made for 140 goals and 336 points between them, nearly double the numbers from the year before.
Wayne Cashman was a 20+ goal scorer eight times over his National Hockey League career. He played 1,027 regular season and 145 playoff games in the league between 1964-65 and 1982-83, all with the Boston Bruins. He helped the team to two Stanley Cup championships.
