Details

On March 3, 1970, Tim Horton was traded by the Toronto Maple Leafs to the New York Rangers for future considerations. The future considerations turned out to be Denis Dupere. In his first full year with the Blue Shirts, 1970-71, Horton played the full 78 game schedule and put up 20 points from the blue line.

However, by the start of 1971-72, Tim was with a new team. This time, it was the Pittsburgh Penguins. He played just 44 games for the Pens and by the start of the 1972-73 he was a member of the Buffalo Sabres, his fourth and final NHL club.

The six All-Star picks noted on the back of the card consisted of three First Team and three Second Team selections. There were no additions to that total over the remainder of his NHL career. Despite never being a Norris Trophy winner, Horton is still considered one of the best blue liners of all-time.

Between 1949-50 and 1973-74, Tim Horton appeared in 1,445 regular season and 126 playoff games in the National Hockey League with the Maple Leafs, Rangers, Penguins and Sabres. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1977. His jersey number 7 has been retired by the Toronto Maple Leafs while his number 2 has been retired by the Buffalo Sabres.
