The Canucks’ leading scorer in 1980-81, Thomas also added 4 power play goals, one game winning goal and one game tying goal during campaign. Many of his goals come from tip-ins, deflections or from wrist-shots. Thomas was a member of the Swedish National Team for the 1977-78 season.

Thomas Gradin would lead the Vancouver Canucks in scoring again in 1981-82 with career highs of 37 goals and 86 points. He started early with a hat trick against the Edmonton Oilers in just the third game of the season.
On October 9, 1981 at Pacific Coliseum, Gradin scored half of Vancouver’s goals in a 6-2 win over the Oilers, including the game winner. Thomas was efficient, scoring the three goals on just three shots put toward Edmonton goalie Andy Moog.
In the 1982 Stanley Cup playoffs, Gradin contributed 19 points in 17 games, helping the Canucks reach the final before being swept by the New York Islanders. In game against the Isles, Thomas had a pair of goals and assisted on a Stan Smyl marker. Unfortunately, Mike Bossy hat three goals, including the game winner scored with just two seconds remaining in the first overtime.
Between 1978-79 and 1986-87, Thomas Gradin played 677 regular season and 42 playoff games in the National Hockey League, all with the Vancouver Canucks. Originally, he was a third round pick by the Chicago Blackhawks at the 1976 NHL Amateur Draft.
