The Minnesota North Stars would be the fifth and final NHL team Ted Hampson would play for and 1971-72 would be his last season in the league. Hampson jumped to the WHA for the Rebel League’s inaugural 1972-73 season, playing four years with the Minnesota Fighting Saints and Quebec Nordiques.

In 1968-69, Ted was the second ever winner of the Bill Masterton Trophy while playing for the Oakland Seals. The first winner of the award was Claude Provost of the Montreal Canadiens in 1967-68.

Between 1959-60 and 1971-72, Hampson played 676 regular season and 35 playoff games in the National Hockey League with the Toronto Maple Leafs, New York Rangers, Detroit Red Wings, Oakland Seals and the North Stars.

Ted’s best season came in 1968-69 when he totaled 75 points on 26 goals and 49 assists for the Seals. His 49 helpers put him in a four way tie for sixth spot in the NHL with Bobby Hull, Rod Gilbert and Jean Beliveau.
