A year ago last summer Bruins shelled out $20,000 for this young defenseman in draft after first pro season at Winnipeg. Ted worked out with Bruins last fall, then was farmed out to Winnipeg where he collected 127 penalty minutes in 57 games. He’s rough and willing, could make it to top this year.

First off – ERROR – although, it’s just a typo. In the French version of the information snippet on the back of this 1961-62 Topps Ted Green hockey card, it states he played 97 games for Winnipeg in 1960-61. In fact, he played 57.
The card fails to mention that Green played his first National Hockey League game during the 1960-61 season with the Bruins, the only NHL match he would get into that season. He also played for the Kingston Frontenacs in the EPHL, appearing in eleven regular season and five playoff games for the club.
1961-62 was Ted’s breakout season, playing in 66 of Boston’s 70 games. The rookie blue liner scored three goals and totaled eleven points. His 116 penalty minutes were the second highest in the NHL, behind just Lou Fontinato of the Montreal Canadiens.
Between 1960-61 and 1971-72, Ted Green playing 621 regular season and 31 playoff games in the National Hockey League, all with Boston. He jumped to the WHA for the Rebel League’s inaugural season, 1972-73, and stayed in the league for the duration of its existence. Between 1972-73 and 1978-79, Green played 452 regular season and 61 playoff games in the World Hockey Association with the New England Whalers and Winnipeg Jets.
