Details
Big things were coming for Stan Mikita in 1963-64. He would win his first Art Ross Trophy as the NHL’s leading scorer. Mikita would go on to win the award again the following season and two more times during his career. He would again be a First Team All-Star in 1963-64. Stan would be selected First Team a total of six times and would be Second Team material on two occasions.
There were only 13 hat tricks recorded in 1963-64 and Stan was responsible for two of those. In fact, combined with teammates Bobby Hull and Ken Wharram, the Chicago Blackhawks accounted for six of the 13, nearly half.
Between 1958-59 and 1979-80, Stan Mikita appeared in 1,394 regular season and 155 playoff games in the National Hockey League, all with the Chicago Blackhawks. Along with his four Art Ross Trophy wins, Stan also was the recipient of the Hart Trophy twice and the Lady Byng Trophy twice. He helped the Hawks to a Stanley Cup championship in 1960-61 and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1983.
