Scott participated in NHL Slo-Pitch classic. Also enjoys fishing and camping. His dad, Larry, was formerly a semi-pro football player in the Kitchener-Waterloo area. Scott is single. Stevens was Kitchener Rangers’ Rookie of the Year in 1981-82.

Scott Stevens had an outstanding rookie season in the OHL with the Kitchener Rangers in 1981-82, his only year of major junior. He helped the Rangers to a J. Ross Robertson Cup victory, along with the franchise’s first ever Memorial Cup championship. The Washington Capitals took him fifth overall at the 1982 NHL Entry Draft and he never looked back. Kitchener teammates Brian Bellows and David Shaw also were selected in the first round.

His 1982-83 NHL rookie season was no less spectacular. Stevens finished third in the voting for the Calder Trophy, behind winner Steve Larmer and future Hockey Hall of Fame member Phil Housley. Scott was one of seven players in taken in the 1982 first round that went on to play over 1,000 NHL games. Stevens and Dave Andreychuk finished their NHL careers neck and neck with Andreychuk ending up with 1,639 games played and Stevens with 1,635.

Never a Norris Trophy winner, Scott came close in 1993-94 with the New Jersey Devils. Just four votes separated Stevens and winner Ray Bourque. He also was given a look for the Hart Trophy, placing seventh in voting, a fair distance behind winner Sergei Federov of the Detroit Red Wings.

Between 1982-83 and 2003-04, Scott Stevens appeared in 1,635 regular season and 233 playoff games in the National Hockey League with the Washington Capitals, St. Louis Blues and New Jersey Devils. He helped the Devils to three Stanley Cup championships and was the Conn Smythe Trophy winner in 1999-00. Stevens was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2007.
