Details
Unfortunately, things in Boston would never really work out for the up and coming young player. Ross Lonsberry played 19 games with the team in 1967-68 and just six in 1968-69. On May 14, 1969, he was shipped to the Los Angeles Kings along with Eddie Shack for Ken Turlik and two future first round draft picks.
With the Kings, Lonsberry instantly became a regular. However, it wasn’t until a January 28, 1972 trade sent him to the Philadelphia Flyers that his career would really start to take off. Going with him to Philly were Bill Flett, Eddie Joyal and Jean Potvin. Going to the Kings were Serge Bernier, Larry Brown, Bill Lesuk and Jim Johnson.
With the Broad Street Bullies, Ross would play an important role in the team winning consecutive Stanley Cup championships in 1973-74 and 1974-75. His best season offensively came with the Flyers in 1973-74 when he scored 32 goals.
Ross Lonsberry played 968 regular season and 100 playoff games in the National Hockey League between 1966-67 and 1980-81 with the Bruins, Kings, Flyers and Pittsburgh Penguins.
