Details

Ron Schock took over captain’s duties with the Pittsburgh Penguins from Earl Ingarfield for the 1973-74 NHL season. The position had actually been vacant since mid 1968-69 when Ingarfield was traded to the Oakland Seals.

Schock remained team captain until the end of the 1976-77 season when Jean Pronovost took over the role. That was also the end of Ron’s time in Pittsburgh. He was traded before the start of 1977-78 to the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for Brian Spencer. That trade would be the start of the quick end to Schock’s NHL career. He played just 40 games for the Sabres that year before being sent to the minors. He would never return to the NHL.

Ron Schock played 909 regular season and 55 playoff games in the National Hockey League between 1963-64 and 1977-78 with the Boston Bruins, St. Louis Blues, Pittsburgh Penguins and Buffalo Sabres. It didn’t get any better than the 23 goals and 63 assists for 86 points noted on the back of the card for 1974-75.
