The first Penguin player ever to score 100 points in a season, he finished the 1975-76 campaign with club records of 53 goals and 111 total points. Closed 1975-76 season by scoring goals in 7 straight games and points in 16 straight, tying two more club standards. Pierre was NHL’s youngest 50-goal scorer in history.

Pierre Larouche reached the 100 point plateau in 1975-76 in a March 24, 1976 game at the Pittsburgh Civic Arena against the Boston Bruins. In the 5-5 tie, Larouche scored his 45th goal of the season at 17:09 of the first period to reach the milestone. The goal was scored on Boston goalie Gilles Gilbert and was assisted by Rick Kehoe.

He certainly ended that season on a high note, scored in his final seven games and eleven of his final 12. In the final 16 games mentioned on the back of this 1977-78 O-Pee-Chee hockey card, Pierre totaled 27 points on 16 goals and 11 assists. The final game of the year saw Larouche produce four points on two goals and two assists against the Detroit Red Wings.

His days in Pittsburgh were numbered. 20 games into the 1977-78 NHL season, Larouche was traded to the Montreal Canadiens with Peter Marsh for Pete Mahovlich and Peter Lee. He arrived in Montreal in time to win two Stanley Cup championships. He would also have his second 50 goal season with the Habs in 1979-80.

Between 1974-75 and 1987-88, Pierre Larouche played 812 regular season and 64 playoff games in the National Hockey League with the Pittsburgh Penguins, Montreal Canadiens, Hartford Whalers and New York Rangers. Originally, he was the eighth overall pick by the Penguins at the 1974 NHL Amateur Draft.
