“Phil Esposito Tops Mark with 29th Hat Trick”
Washington, March 24 – Center Phil Esposito of the New York Rangers set a National Hockey League record tonight when he scored the 29th three-goal hat trick of his 15 year career. All three of Esposito’s goals came against Washington goalie Bernie Wolfe, one in the first period and two in the second. Esposito and former Chicago star Bobby Hull had been tied with 28 hat tricks apiece.
