This 1971-72 O-Pee-Chee Paul Shmyr hockey card has slight flaw and could be considered an uncorrected error card. The front of the card and the notes on the back of the card have him as a member of the California Golden Seals. However, at the top right of the back of the card has him still as a member of the Chicago Blackhawks.
Shmyr would play just the 1971-72 season with the Golden Seals before jumping to the World Hockey Association for the WHA’s 1972-73 inaugural season. He played in the WHA for the entirety of the league’s existence. He returned to the NHL to play for the Minnesota North Stars and Hartford Whalers, retiring after the 1981-82 season.
This 1971-72 O-Pee-Chee card is Shmyr’s rookie card. His only other NHL card is included in the 1980-81 O-Pee-Chee / Topps set.
